Women In Business – Oxford Business College 2020
The role of women in business is an important topic to discuss. In today’s video interview, our colleague Franciny spoke to entrepreneur Victoria Tsoy about the challenges ahead, and how education can empower more women.
Recent research suggests that around one third of UK SMEs are run by women, but with the 2011 census indicating that around 51% of the UK population are female, there’s some way to go to ensure there’s a greater voice for women in the workplace.
In our interview, Victoria explains that although progress has been made, more can be done to give women, particularly young women, the confidence to succeed in business. This process requires the support of men and women, working together to respect equality in the workplace. Whilst Victoria can see improvements, she reminds us that there’s always more than can be done.
Education is a particularly important way to empower people who want to become entrepreneurs. Victoria notes that her daughter’s education is much better than her own was, and with further developments, education will play a key role in giving more women the confidence to achieve their potential.
Victoria also explains that by talking about equality and raising awareness, we can make sure more is done to address imbalance at work.
