A new study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences found that women land leadership roles by networking quite differently than men. The most successful female job-seekers from a top-ranked graduate school didn’t just have a wide network of contacts; they also depended on a close inner circle of other women who could offer support and gender-specific job advice. For insight on how women network, Carrie Saldo sat down with Allison Werder, the co-founder of Women Innovators and Trailblazers, and Ina Ganguli, an Assistant Professor of Economics at UMass Amherst.
