As we are aware, in Africa, while there’s been significant attention to addressing gender issues, a critical gap remains in empowering the very organisations and leaders dedicated to these causes. In addition to this, as global development efforts increase the focus on local leaders, it is also important to recognise that these leaders do not exist in isolation. Over the last decade, we have seen the immense power that networks and movements have contributed towards addressing some of the world’s most challenging issues. Therefore a critical question is around how we develop a pathway that harnesses the power of networks to empower local leaders who are at the forefront of efforts to achieve gender equity.
In this session, we are gathering a dynamic group of change-makers—everyone from gender activists and philanthropists to champions of gender equality and more—to dive deep into this important issue.
