Devanshi Patel is a Sophomore at Stanford University, majoring in Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity, and is founder of the Stanford chapter of Students For Education Reform, a national student-driven non-profit mobilizing the next generation of leaders to close the achievement gap. Devanshi has been featured in the award-winning documentary film Miss Representation for her involvement in civic engagement, especially of young women. At Stanford, Devanshi is a staff member at the Women’s Community Center, and a member of the ASSU Community Action Board. She hopes to engage issues of women’s political empowerment with other areas such as Education Reform.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
